Kayla and her husband, OJ, knew their system was on its last leg. It was original to the home and was struggling to keep up with heating and cooling. After a little encouragement from Kayla’s mom, she entered our contest… not expecting to win.
When we called, she had completely forgotten she had entered and couldn’t believe the news! Now Kayla and her husband OJ have a brand new heat pump keeping their home comfortable all year round.

“Kayla entered the Ugliest HVAC Contest, not expecting to win. In fact, when she was called to let her know she was a finalist, she said she had forgotten she had even entered!
When we arrived at her house to let her know she was the grand-prize winner, Kayla was completely shocked. Her 18-year-old system was on its last leg, the loudest and ugliest thing about the house, and struggled to maintain a “balmy” 63 degrees in the winter. After inspecting the existing system, it was quickly realized that the existing pie box duct system was not going to be adequate to pair with a brand-new high-efficiency Capital City Platinum Series heat pump, so Kayla was informed that not only was she getting a new state-of-the-art heat pump system, she was going to get a duct system renovation, too! Kayla quickly realized that this contest was not a publicity gimmick but a first-class contest with a first-class prize from a first-class company.
On installation day, the team showed Kayla the job, answered her questions, and immediately began removing the old, outdated equipment and ductwork. By the end of the second day, the new system was ready. As it started up, cool, refreshing air flowed from the new ductwork, and within minutes, the entire house felt more comfortable and evenly cooled. The team brought Kayla and OJ (her husband) to the outdoor unit, where they were amazed that the super-quiet system was even running. Kayla joked she might not sleep at night since she’d grown used to the old unit’s groan, and now there would be complete silence!
